In 1885 Atanacio Rodolfo Romero, great grandfather of the Rodriguez-Romero family purchased large parcels of land in the area of Capucas, Honduras and began growing small amounts of coffee and tobacco. He traveled to Costa Rico and learned the best methods of growing coffee and thus created the groundwork for Capucas to become one of the most popular coffee plantations in the Honduras.
